Who is James Patterson?

James Brendan Patterson, Jr. was born on March 22, 1947, in Newburgh, New York. In high school, James was a brilliant student but didn’t like reading books casually.

James attended Manhattan College (where he graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in English in 1969) and Vanderbilt University (where he graduated with an M.A. in English in 1970).

After graduating, Patterson started working as a junior copywriter at an advertising agency called J Walter Thompson in New York City. He then worked his way up, becoming the company’s CEO in 1988 and chairman in 1990.

James Patterson finished writing his first book, The Thomas Berryman Number, in 1976 but had to endure 31 rejections from publishers before seeing his book on the shelves of bookstores.

Then, in 1993, his breakout book, Along Came A Spider, was published, and he’s rumored to have sold over 350 million copies of his books.

“Along Came a Spider” is James Patterson’s breakout novel and Book#1 in the Alex Cross series.

The story follows Alex Cross, a forensic psychologist, as he tries to stop a psychopathic serial murderer (Gary Soneji) from kidnapping and killing more people.

2. Kiss the Girls 

Another Alex Cross classic, and in this psychological thriller, Alex Cross tries to solve another murder mystery.
